Jordan Thompson v Denis Kudla Head to Head
Kudla won their only tour-level meeting in Geneva. But they have met three more times, all at the lower levels and Thompson has won all three of those matches. Most recently the met in the final in Surbiton last year with Thompson winning in straight sets.

World no. 85 Jordan Thompson comes into the tournament with a 1-3 record in 2023. That one win came over Roman Safiullin in the first qualifying round in Adelaide-2.
Thompson lost his opener in Adelaide-1, fell in the second qualifying round in Adelaide-2, and then lost to JJ Wolf in the opening round of the Australian Open. He will be eager to get his first main draw win of the season and will hope it happens in Dallas.
The 28-year-old Australian was a quarterfinalist in Dallas last year. Jenson Brooksby had halted his progress in the tournament. It was the only tour-level event in 2023 where Thompson reached the last eight and as a result of his struggles he finished with an 11-17 record on the tour in 2022.
He did well at the Challenger level though, winning two titles in Surbiton and Columbus and finishing runner-up in Nottingham.

Kudla Back in the top 100
Denis Kudla has a 4-2 record in 2023. He made it to the main draw of the Australian Open as a lucky loser and then won the opening round match against Safiullin, but was stopped from progressing further by Ugo Humbet in the second round.
Kudla had won his qualifying round matches against Omar Jasika and Carlos Taberner but had lost the third qualifying round to Oleksii Krutykh.
After his Australian Open campaign, he made his debut for the U.S. in Davis Cup and got a win over Milushev Amir of Uzbekistan.
The 30-year-old Kudla was 6-16 on the tour last season. But he had a decent run at the Challenger level and thanks to that he finished with an overall record of 33-33. Kudla won his eighth Challenger title by winning in Phoenix and also reached the final in Surbiton, only to finish runner-up for the 11th time at the Challenger level.
The former world no. 53 went out of the top 100 last year, but he returned to the top 100 last week. Can the world no. 93 move up further in the rankings with a good showing in Dallas?

Overall Thompson has dominated this rivalry and he will hold the psychological edge. Expect Kudla to put up a strong fight, but the Aussie should edge through.
