Jelena Ostapenko v Qinwen Zheng Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and Zheng had won that at the 2022 US Open.

Ostapenko Sends Collins Out
It took Ostapenko three sets and two hours and 19 minutes alright but in the end, the former French Open winner took down Danielle Collins in a delicious first round encounter.
Ostapenko won 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 in a match saw her lose her serve more times than she broke her opponent and yet, she came away on top. This was down to Ostapenko’s timing, one that saw her come back from 3-5 down in the first set to win it and then break Collins in a crucial 11th game of the decider.
This follows Ostapenko’s ride through to the quarterfinal at the Australian Open earlier this year which included a win over one of the pre-tournament favourites Cori Gauff.
Can Ostapenko now tame the Chinese youngster who enters this on the back of some good form herself and has seen a career-best ranking of 28th this season.

No Trouble for Zheng against Marino
After winning back to back qualifiers to make it to the main draw, Rebecca Marino might have started off her opener against Zheng with a lot of confidence but a superior opponent and the exhaustion from playing a third match in as many days seemed to have gotten to her.
Zheng carved out a 6-3, 6-3 win over Marino in an hour and 20 minutes to move into the second round for the fourth tournament in a row.
The Chinese player faced just one break-point in the entire match and saved it, while breaking her opponent three times. Two of these breaks came in the first set, while Zheng’s own serving was impeccable – she won 100% of her first serve points in the opening set.
At each of the previous three competitions, Zheng has lost her second round match, including once to Bernarda Pera at the Australian Open despite coming into the encounter as a 1/3 favourite.
Can she take on the challenge of an in-form Ostapenko here?
