Cameron Norrie v Facundo Diaz Acosta Head to Head

While Norrie will be reasonably satisfied with his effort in Great Britain’s Davis Cup tie against Colombia, having notched up a couple of singles wins there, that came on the back of a surprise loss at the Australian Open.
Norrie has been trying to make it deeper at Grand Slams after having improved his showing in the other, smaller tournaments. A semifinal appearance at Wimbledon last year was indicative of that.
Coming into the Australian Open, he would have given himself a chance to emulate that kind of performance but Norrie was knocked out in the third round.
That he went down to Jiri Lehecka, a player starting out at 13/5 winning odds and after being two sets to one up, would have been quite a shock to the Brit.
He will hope to shrug that off and use his performances in the Davis Cup as a spur-on to kick-start the rest of the season.

Acosta Shocks Coria
Sure, Federico Coria had been on court over the entirety of the last week, reaching the final of the Cordoba Open. In doing so he had also broken into the top 50 of the rankings for the first time.
And this meant that while Coria was full of confidence there was also a chance he might have been exhausted coming into his opening round encounter against Acosta.
Acosta took advantage of this, pushing the match to over two hours and winning 7-6 (5), 7-5 to make it to the second round. There were nine breaks of serves in the match, and Acosta himself dropped his serve four times.
It was, however, his clinical performance in the first set tie-breaker and the decisive break in the 11th game of the final set that took him through. This, in turn, gave Acosta his maiden main draw win following on from two previous defeats.
Norrie v Diaz Acosta Prediction and Tip
Again, Norrie is the favourite here but the big question is if he can find his game against a player who has overcome one of the better clay-court players around in round one. We don’t think it’s going to be as easy as those odds of 1/3 seem to suggest.
