Our 2023 WTA Merida Open Predictions & Picks

It is one of the most open fields with four players ranked inside the Top 50 vying to lift the WTA 250 title in Merida. And undoubtedly the biggest headline act during the week will be Poland’s Magda Linette who arrives in Merida fresh off a breakthrough run at the Australian Open.

Linette isn’t the only player who made waves in Melbourne that is playing in Mexico.  China’s Zhu Lin is also another veteran who comes to this tournament following a terrific start to her campaign.

Lin reached the fourth round of a Major for the first time after stunning Greece’s Maria Sakkari en route. She has since won her second career title in Hua Hin at the start of February.

Alycia Parks is another player who has bagged a WTA title this year. She sensationally defeated top seed Caroline Garcia in Lyon to win her first Tour-level title, although her winning streak indoors ended at 15 after losing in Linz. But this is an outdoor event and Parks will be looking to start afresh.

Camila Osorio is a definite outsider in the outright market. The Colombian loves playing in South America. She won her first and thus far only WTA title in this part of the continent two years ago. And she was unerring in Lyon before losing to Caroline Garcia in the semifinals. The former US Open girls champion is worth a shout to add a second title to her trophy cabinet.
