Katerina Siniakova v Ysaline Bonaventure Head to Head
It is 1-1 between the two players. They last met in 2019 in St. Petersburg where Bonaventure won 6-4, 7-6(3).

Siniakova gets a Walkover
Doubles No. 1 Katerina Siniakova enjoyed a comfortable start in the inaugural Merida Open, moving past Lesia Tsurenko without playing a full match. The Ukrainian retired in the second set, giving the Czech more time to train.
Ranked 47, the 26-year-old is now on the path to building some singles form and getting some experience ahead of the Sunshine Doubles next month.
She is 5-3 at the moment, with her best result being the second-round showing in Adelaide 2 (as a qualifier). Her last tournament was the Aus Open where she was beaten by Coco Gauff in the opener.
Credit where it’s due, Siniakova is not all that bad on the singles court – she did close 2022 at 28-21 with two singles titles. And given her exceptional doubles performance – spanning 7 major titles – she surely has enough skills to do well in WTA 250 events.

Bonaventure Beats Waltert
Ysaline Bonaventure defeated Switzerland’s Simona Waltert in the first round 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
This marks her first first-round win since Hobart International, where she made it as far as round two. Since then, the Belgian had lost in the opening main draw matches in Hua Hin, Abu Dhabi, and Melbourne.
However, her breakthrough semifinal run in ASB Classic is worth mentioning. As a qualifier, Bonaventure reached a rare singles semifinal on the WTA Tour after beating Caty McNally, Rebecca Marino, and Leylah Fernandez.
The 28-year-old, now ranked World No. 95, has been working hard to build some experience. Last season, she closed at an impressive 51-26 and made a leap of 130+ ranking spots to make her top 100 debut. Her focus was the ITF Tour, where she reached four finals (three runner-ups, and one title).
Siniakova v Bonaventure Prediction and Tip
This is a tricky one. Siniakova is the heavy odds-on favourite, but Bonaventure should not be undermined that easily. It may be hard for her to beat the Czech, but it is not entirely impossible – at least to the extent the bookmakers make it to be. We may be looking at a long affair here.
Tips:
