Camila Giorgi v Sloane Stephens Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Giorgi leads 3-2 on head to head. All of these matches came in a period between 2012 and 2019 with Giorgi winning their last encounter at the Osaka Open that year in straight sets.

Giorgi Tames Parrizas-Diaz
It lasted an hour and 54 minutes in the end but Giorgi made it through her second round match against Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in straight sets to set up a quarterfinal meeting with the second seeded Stephens.
Giorgi fell 0-2 behind in the very first set and at one point Parrizas-Diaz served for the set at 5-4 and then at 6-5 again but failed to do that. The Italian took the set into a tie-breaker where she squeaked past her Spanish opponent to take the lead.
The second set went a lot easier for Giorgi in which she faced just two break-points while also breaking her opponent on two separate occasions. Parrizas-Diaz had no answers to Giorgi’s powerful serving and she went on to win a whopping 77% of her total service points in the set.
This follows a straight-set rout of Mayar Sherif in the first round and season-best showing of a third round appearance at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Can she make it three wins in a row for the first time since June 2022?

Stephens Doubles Her Season Win Count
Stephens has managed to keep her ranking to 41st in the world but as far as form goes, she has hardly had any of that. In fact coming into this tournament the former Grand Slam winner had played in three tournaments this season and lost in the first round at each of them.
Here she had overcome Leolia Jeanjean in the first round in straight sets to win her first match of the year but if one thought she would prove to be that much better than Varvara Gracheva in the second one was far off the mark.
It took her two hours and 47 minutes and a very hard-working effort to get past Gracheva, winning 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (5). Stephens dropped her serve four times, but managed to get the better of her opponent’s serve on five occasions before overturning a 3-1 deficit in the final set.
Stephens will now face a more difficult challenge of Giorgi in the quarterfinals and might need to up the ante drastically to survive.
Giorgi v Stephens Prediction and Tip
Giorgi is 8/11 to win this and we will have to back her to squeak past her American opponent in this one given her much better overall performances this season and in this tournament as well.
