Tallon Griekspoor v Constant Lestienne Head to Head
No previous matches have been played between these two at the highest level. They did face off on the Challenger circuit with Griekspoor winning on clay in that match in 2020.

He might have lost in the second round of the Doha Open last week but that defeat came at the hands of Andrey Rublev and it was not before Tallon Griekspoor had almost knocked the Russian off his perch.
In the end, Griekspoor lost in the final set tie-breaker but not before he had frittered away three match-points while serving for the match at 5-3.
This comes at a time when Griekspoor had won 11 matches this season in the lead-up to that and suffered just two defeats before that heart-breaking loss.
This included a title win at the Pune Open, a third round appearance at the Australian Open and after finishing a semifinalist at the Rotterdam Open. Can he continue to push on his form and notch up another victory here in Dubai as he then faces the prospect of taking on the world number one in the second round.

Lestienne Fizzles Out after Auckland Open Semifinal
After losing his opener at the Adelaide International which was Lestienne’s first tournament of the season, he went on to make it to the semifinal at the Auckland Open the following week.
He had to withdraw from that match because of fitness concerns and from that point on, Lestienne’s form hasn’t quite been up to the scratch.
At the Australian Open he did make it to the second round but opening round defeats have followed in the three tournaments he has played since then. An out of sorts Nikoloz Basilashvili sent him out at Montpellier, Holger Rune got the better of him at Rotterdam and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina got the better of Lestienne in Doha.
