Karen Khachanov v Botic van de Zandschulp Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Great Ocean Road Open in Melbourne in 2021 and Khachanov had won that quarterfinal match in three sets.

Khachanov Returns after Australian Open Shenanigans
It has been a while since Khachanov played any form of competitive tennis, which is a bit of a surprise given he did as well as he did the last time he was on court.
Khachanov, who kick-started the season on the back of successive appearances at the Adelaide International 1 and 2, did not quite do much of note there. A quarterfinal at the first was followed by a second round exit at the latter one.
It was almost against the run of play at the Australian Open that Khachanov pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the bag.
He stunned Frances Tiafoe in the third round at the season’s first Grand Slam and defeated Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinal to reach the last four of the tournament. And even his defeat at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas saw him put up a solid fight.
This one-month long break could be an interesting one though. It would have given him some chance to recharge his batteries, especially given how players in this day and age barely get any time between seasons either.
It could lead to some rustiness too which could be a factor as he takes on a player who was on court less than a week ago.

Van de Zandschulp 5-4 for the Season
At times this year van de Zandschulp has looked like he is a part and that he could do a lot better than his ranking of 34th in the world. Unfortunately for him that hasn’t quite converted itself into something of note with the Dutchman losing four of the nine matches he’s played.
It was only in the first tournament of the season that van de Zandschulp was involved where he made it two wins in a row to reach the quarterfinal. There he had fallen to Benjamin Bonzi, the eventual finalist.
Following that, van de Zandschulp has entered the second round at Australian Open, Rotterdam Open and ATP Doha but not gone beyond. Two of those defeats, to Tallon Griekspoor and Alexandre Muller would have specifically hurt given that van de Zandschulp was a favourite going into both.
Now against Khachanov, van de Zandschulp’s only chance is for his opponent to come into this undercooked after that longish break.
Khachanov v van de Zandschulp Prediction and Tip
Khachanov is a favourite at 1/2 but given his Australian Open form one would have expected those odds to be a lot shorter. Tempting to go with those.
Tips:

- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
