Alejandro Davidovich Fokina v Malek Jaziri Head to Head
Davidovich Fokina won their only meeting in the first round in Doha last year and it was a starightforward win for the Spaniard.

After a strong showing in Doha, world no. 31 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will be hoping for a bright start in Dubai as well.
The 23-year-old is 6-5 this year and has already featured in two quarterfinals. He had begun the season by reaching the last eight in Adelaide-2, however, he was stopped from progressing further in the tournament by Roberto Bautista Agut.
He also reached the quarterfinal in Doha last week, scoring straight set wins over Constant Lestienne and Soon-woo Kwon in the first and second rounds, respectively. However, it was Felix Auger Aliassime who ended his run in the last eight.
Davidovich Fokina also won his first round matches at the Australian Open and the Montpellier Open, but made a first round exit from Rotterdam after going down to Daniil Medvedev.
A runner-up at the Monte-Carlo Masters last year, Davidovich Fokina has won just one match in Dubai from his two previous appearances. That win came in the first round in 2021, but he lost in the second round. Last year, he lost his first match to Jannik Sinner.

Jaziri Receives a Wild Card
World no. 445 Malek Jaziri is a familiar face in Dubai. The Tunisian has regularly featured in the tournament and will be making his 10th appearance after being handed a wild card for this year’s event
Jaziri’s best in Dubai remains a semifinal finish in 2018. He was also a quarterfinalist in 2014. Overall he has a 7-9 record in Dubai and will be hoping to improve that further.
The 39-year-old will be playing his first match of the year in the first round.
Over the years, Jaziri has reached one final at the tour level, finishing runner-up in Istanbul in 2018.
An eight-time champion from 14 finals at the Challenger Tour, Jaziri has not won a title since 2014 and over the last four years he has experienced more defeats than wins.

Davidovich Fokina is a heavy favourite in this contest. He is a far more accomplished player and also in decent touch at the moment. Jaziri is short of match practice and this match could end quickly.
