Bonzi In Excellent Form

Benjamin Bonzi is in terrific form this year and as we were writing the preview, the Frenchman was preparing to play in his second ATP final on Sunday, after he defeated compatriot Arthur Fils in the semifinals in Marseille on Saturday.

Bonzi had begun the tournament by beating Luca Van Assche in the first round. He raised his level over the next two rounds, defeating seeded players in Maxime Cressy and Alex de Minaur respectively.

It will be the second time that the 26-year-old world no. 60 will be featuring in a final. His first final also came this year, when he defeated some top names on his way to the championship game, but couldn’t win his maiden  title after going down to Tallon Griekspoor

Bonzi has a pretty good 10-6 record this year.

He has been excellent in the Challenger Tour over the last two years. In 2021, he had won six Challenger titles from seven finals. Last year, he reached two Challenger finals and succeeded in winning both of them.

Ymer Has Started 2023 Well

Mikael Ymer, too, has been registering wins at regular intervals.

The 24-year-old Swede is 15-7 across levels this year and that includes two quarterfinal finishes in Adelaide-2 and Marseille. While he went from qualifiers to quarterfinal in Adelaide-2, he didn’t have to play in the qualifying rounds in Marseille this week. He defeated Radu Albot in straight sets in the first round and then received a walkover from David Goffin in the second round.

Ymer suffered a three-set defeat against Hubert Hurkacz in the semifinal on Saturday

Earlier this year, the world no. 69 had reached a Challenger final in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. It was his first Challenger final since October 2019.

Ymer, who was a junior runner-up at Wimbledon in 2015, is a four-time champion on the Challenger Tour from seven finals.

Bonzi v Ymer Prediction and Tip

Bonzi has been excellent this year and he will be looking to start his Dubai campaign with a win.
