Tiafoe Looking for a Strong Start to Sunshine Masters
After a successful Australian Open that saw him make the quarter finals and scalp Kevin Anderson and Grigor Dimitrov on the way, Frances Tiafoe’s 2019 has not quite lived up to expectations.
Being the defending champion at the ATP 250 at Delray Beach this year, Tiafoe had a disappointing early exit, and did not show much promise at either of the ATP 250 New York Open or the Mexican Open at Acapulco.
Currently ranked number 35 in the world, 21-year-old Tiafoe held an all time high of number 29 earliest last month. Tiafoe has an aggressive offensive game that relies on a big serve and powerful forehand and is well suited to the outdoor US hard courts. A strong showing at the Sunshine Masters will get him closer to that top 20 ranking on the ATP tour.

Chilean Nicolas Jarry had a strong 2018 which saw him move up to within the top 40 of the ATP rankings, at the back of his first ATP singles finals appearance at the Brasil Open. At 6 feet 6 inches, Jarry has a strong serve and some powerful shot-making.
The 2019 season has not been overly successful for the Chilean with some early losses and his ranking is down to number 86. Only 23 years of age, Jarry has already exhibited promise and poise to compete at the highest level. The Chilean will be hoping to revive some of the consistent form from last season and will be looking to the Sunshine Masters, for the return to form.

Both players are looking for a good US outdoor hard court season before the toil begins on the European Clay next month. With a game focussed on strong serves and powerful hitting, both players match-up well. Jarry can ousterve any opponent with his big serve, aided by his frame.
