As a result, there is a good chance that bookmakers will be looking to put up special offers before and during this tournament including price boosts (enhanced odds) and we will update those here.

2023 Miami Open Schedule & Dates

As has been the case in the previous seasons, this year’s Miami Open will be played in the two weeks after the Indian Wells Masters/Indian Wells Open.

The 2023 edition of the Miami Open will kick-start from March 22 and be played till April 2 when the final set will be played.

The tournament begins with its qualifiers and first round encounters over the first three days before the seeded players from both sections of the draw, men’s and women’s will start kick-start with their appearances – usually from Wednesday and Thursday of the week.

This will be the 38th edition of the competition and for the first time it will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium following its move from the Tennis Center at Crandon Park. More information on its schedule and order of play will be updated when it is released by the organisers a week before the start of the tournament.

What Happened at the 2022 Miami Open?

The 2022 edition of the Miami Open was won by Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek respectively.

Alcaraz sent out Casper Ruud in the final with the Spaniard winning 7-5, 6-4 while Swiatek defeated Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-0 to lift their titles.

This was following the 2021 Miami Open which had a surprise men’s singles winner too with Hubert Hurkacz winning the crown with a straight-set win over Jannik Sinner in the final.

Ash Barty won the women’s singles title for the second time in a row when she defeated Bianca Andreescu in the final.

The 2020 edition of the Miami Open was cancelled because of the global outbreak of Covid-19.

Roger Federer won the 2019 men’s singles title by beating the hobbling John Isner in straight sets in the final while the women’s singles final was won by Ash Barty who overcame Karolina Pliskova to kick-start a brilliant year.

Isner had come into the tournament as the defending champion and the seventh seeded American was fortunate to avoid any of the top players till the final. 19th seeded Kyle Edmund was his highest-ranked opposition before he took on Federer in the final.

And the reason for that was Novak Djokovic’s early defeat, a fourth round loss to Roberto Bautista Agut, and Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem bowing out in the first match they played.

In the women’s section of the Miami Open, Barty, the 12th seed, needed wins over Kiki Bertens, Petra Kvitova and Pliskova to clinch the title. Top seeded Naomi Osaka’s struggles continued as she lost in the third round while Simona Halep and Kvitova made semifinals and quarterfinals respectively.

Serena Williams withdrew from the tournament in round three against Wang Qiang.

Isner won the 2018 edition of the Miami Open men’ singles when he defeated Alexander Zverev in the final. He clinched the match 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 to lift his first ever Masters 1000 title. The women’s singles title was won by Sloane Stephens who had an easier victory in the final, beating Jelena Ostapenko 7-6, 6-1 to add to her previous year’s US Open victory.

Interestingly, while Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray did not participate in the tournament because of injuries, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic were knocked out of the tournament in round two itself, having got first round byes. What this meant was that none of the Big Four managed to win a single match in the tournament.

Aussie qualifier Thanasi Kokkinakis defeated Federer while Benoit Paire sent Djokovic packing in straight sets.

The men’s singles semi-finals saw Zverev defeat Pabloa Carreno Busta and Isner overcame the favourite Juan Martin del Potro.

Other than Stephens and Ostapenko, no other seeded player entered the semi-finals, with wild-card entrant Victoria Azarenka, and shock qualifier Danielle Collins, making it to that stage. Angelique Kerber, Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina and Venus Williams made the quarter-finals while defending champion Johanna Konta was bumped out in round four.

In the men’s singles draw, Kevin Anderson, Borna Coric, Milos Raonic and Chung Hyeon were the other quarter-finalists.
