Christian Garin v Taro Daniel Head to Head
This will be their third ever head to head clash, played on clay like both of the previous ones, and they are at win a piece at the moment.
Daniel had an easy time winning when they faced each other in the 2017 Santiago challenger as the scoreline was 6-4, 6-0 in his favour.
Garin was better in another challenger match, in 2018 Lisbon challenger quarterfinals, where he lost 4-6 in the opening set but dominated the next two 6-1, 6-0 and later got to the finals of that event.
Garin Moved Up 50 Places This Year
Christian Garin has been playing some quality tennis since this season kicked off, having a 20/8 overall record and amazing 18-4 on clay.
This will be a great chance for him to at least get through to the semifinals as his opponents on that way are Daniel here and after that Jarry or Kudla in the quarterfinals and Garin is a better player than all three and in much better form than all of them.
Daniel Trying To Get Back Into Top 100
After an underwhelming start to the year where Daniel had 12-18 and went down to the 107th place of the rankings, he is looking to bounce back and be much better in the remaining six months of the season.
For that to happen he needs a good result in this tournament which might prove to be hard as Garin is undoubtedly a much better player than the Japanese and this round of 16 might easily be where his Geneva run ends.
He did manage to beat Zapata Miralles in the opening round but that win over the 238th ranked player in the world was pretty much expected.
Christian Garin v Taro Daniel Predictions & Tips
One cannot see how Garin will drop even a set to Daniel today as the 23-year-old Chilean is in terrific form and looks like he could be the next big thing on clay in the decade to come. This is why the pick for this one will be Garin to win in straight sets.
