American Tennys Sandgren seems to play his best tennis Down Under.
The world number 100 was a quarter-finalist at the 2018 Australian Open defeating Stanislas Wawrinka and Dominic Thiem en route, as well as a winner at the ASB Classic in Auckland last year.
He has had another phenomenal run at the Australian Open defeating Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini among others as he is in the quarter finals again.
In good physical shape in 2020, Sandgren has been serving strong and backed it with strong groundstrokes on both wings and looked like a dangerous proponent for any opposition.

Given that this is the first meeting between the players, Federer will be a little unsure on what to expect and that could take him a little to get into his rhythm.
