Alexander Zverev v Jaume Munar Head to Head

This will be the first time that the two youngsters will be on the opposite ends on the court, facing each other.

Zverev Starts with a Decent Win

The 21-year-old German marked the start of his clay season with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Denis Istomin in the first round. Zverev doled out 13 aces and won 86% of his first service points.

The World No. 3 hasn’t had that eventful of a season so far, barring his run to the final in the Mexican Open. Apart from that, he lost in the fourth round in the Australian Open. Zverev also incurred early losses in the Sunshine Doubles, which were rather surprising given his prolific form on the ATP Tour.

With the exception of his defeat to Milos Raonic, he has lost to players who are ranked considerably below him like Nick Kyrgios, Jan-Lennard Struff, and David Ferrer.

The number one seed will be hoping for a massive resurgence on clay, with big tournaments right around the corner. Having won four singles titles last year – two of which were the ATP Munich and Madrid Open, he has done enough to stay in the top five. However, any further losses here will seriously hinder his ranking on the tour.

Munar, Working Hard on the Circuit

Jaume Munar has been quite active on the tour this season. He arrived in Marrakech with a win-loss record of 10-8, hoping to make a sizeable leap in the rankings.

Even though he hasn’t been that consistent with his form, he is definitely a player of great caliber. He reached the quarterfinal in the ATP Pune, Cordoba Open, and Argentina Open. He also made it to the penultimate rounds in ATP Rio but lost to Felix-Auger Aliassime.

In Indian Wells and Miami, he lost early – just like Zverev. However, with every defeat, he is improving and looks more and more determined to win his first title. He started his run in the tournament with a straight-set win over Facundo Bagnis.

Zverev v Munar Predictions & Tips

Given Zverev’s not-so-perfect start to the season and his shaky form, Munar will certainly fancy his chances here. However, it will be quite difficult as Zverev, despite his recent antics, is still a formidable player with big wins under his belt. This should prove to be a comfortable win for the German.

Tip: Total Games under 21.5: 22/25 (Unibet)
