Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head
The two players met earlier this year in the Sofia Open and the Greek won that encounter in straight sets.
Tsitsipas Looking for a Good Run on Clay
The season so far has been quite good for the 20-year-old Greek. He made it into the top 10 and is currently ranked as the World No. 8 – his best singles ranking yet.
A semifinalist in this year’s Australian Open, he later won the Open 13 in Marseille and then moved on to reach the final in the ATP Dubai. However, his form took a slight hit after that, with not-so-brilliant runs in Indian Wells and Miami.
He last played in the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he lost in the third round to Daniil Medvedev. In Barcelona, he enjoyed a bye into the second round and started his run with a straight-set win over Marton Fucsovics.
Struff, Capable of Delivering Upsets
Jan-Lennard Struff may not be among the most consistent and remarkable players on the tour, but he is certainly a force to be reckoned with. He has had his moments throughout this year, starting with a semifinal run in the Auckland Open.
Then after a series of early exits, he delivered a big blow in Dubai by knocking out Milos Raonic in the first round. Even though he lost in the second round there, he still managed to make an impact. Following his run there, he went to Indian Wells where he reached the fourth round after upsetting Alexander Zverev.
In Monte Carlo last week, he defeated Denis Shapovalov before succumbing to Grigor Dimitrov in the second round. Over here in Barcelona, he defeated Hugo Dellien – the Bolivian qualifier and David Goffin in straight sets to reach the third round.
Tsitsipas v Struff Predictions & Tips
Tsitsipas hasn’t looked that strong over the last few weeks and that is something that Struff can capitalise on. However, the Greek is a superior player and by no means will this be an easy match for the German. Expect a good battle here but Tsitsipas should come out on the top after taking a few punches.
Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 17/20 (William Hill)
