Borna Coric v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head
The two players have met once on the ATP circuit,at this year’s Australian Open which Coric won in four sets.
Coric Hoping for Deep Clinical Run at Budapest
Borna Coric had a breakthrough year in 2018, but his 2019 season has not yet lived up to expectations. Last year, Coric had the rare feat of defeating Roger Federer twice in the same year en route winning the Halle ATP 500 title and being runner-up at the Shanghai Masters 1000.
With a solid all court game, Coric has shown that he can dominate proceedings from the back of the court as well as come up when needed. Despite not having a huge serve, Coric has used it strategically and made it in a secret weapon intermittently.
With a game suited to the clay, Coric was among the ones to watch out for at the beginning of the clay court season. Similar to the rest of his season thus far, Coric has had convincing wins and disappointing losses. After a strong start, Coric lost to eventual champion Fabio Fognini at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 quarter-finals last week. Similarly, his opening encounter at Budapest this year ended as a tight battle against Dutchman Robin Haase where Coric was unable to drive home an early advantage against his opponent.
Coric will be hoping for a clinical performance in his next match and a deep run this week.
Krajinovic To Continue Recent Form?
Serbian Filip Krajinovic has had a good run of form of late, defeating a handful of players ranked in the top 50, including Stan Wawrinka at the Miami Open last month. Currently ranked just outside the top 100, Krajinovic was ranked as high as 25 about a year ago.
Krajinovic has been on the ATP circuit for close to a decade and has a good powerful game that cannot be underestimated by his opponents. The Serb however has not been consistent and thus his results and ranking have not lived up to his potential.
Krajinovic has has a good start to his Budapest campaign beating Andres Seppi and Radu Albot in the first two rounds and will be hoping to continue his recent run of form here.
Coric v Krajinovic Predictions & Tips
Both players have exhibited sparks of solid form this season, but also been unpredictable and inconsistent. Expect an even encounter on the cards, but Coric should prevail in two close sets, given his superior skills on clay.
Tip: Coric to win in two sets: 7/4 (888Sport)
