Stefanos Tsitsipas will be the top seed at the Millennium Estoril Open and that will further put his name as the major contender to claim the title this week.
The Greek reached the semifinals last year in his debut appearance at the Estoril Open, but he will certainly have his work cut out bearing in mind that the there is a star-studded field in 2019 with all eight seeds ranked inside the Top 30.
The Melbourne semifinalist is yet to hit the ground running on the dirt in 2019 following early losses in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, the latter of which he was runner-up in 2018.
However, if there is one great attribute to admire about Tsitsipas’ embryonic tennis career, it is his willingness to fight through adversity. Following his demoralizing defeat to Nadal at the Australian Open in January, the young Greek bounced back by winning his second career title in Marseille a month later.
Andreozzi Fancies Underdog Status
Guido Andreozzi will face a daunting task when he takes on the top seed in a rematch of their second round meeting from Sydney in January.
The Argentinean journeyman has struggled for consistency on the main tour, with his victory over Albert Ramos Vinolas in Marrakech his high profile win this year.
The 27-year-old will be seeking back-to-back wins on the main draw for the first time since Winston-Salem last year. If he is to achieve that feat again, it will come at the expense of the World No.10 and likely his finest result of his career surpassing the win over Taylor Fritz at the 2018 French Open.
