Now ranked at 30 in the world, Goffin has shown little form of late to suggest he can get back to being a top ten player again. Beaten in the third round of Roland Garros by Rafael Nadal – no disgrace in itself – he has struggled to put any consistent run of performances together.
His best result in the first part of the season came in Marseille, when he reached the semi-finals, only to lose to Stefanos Tsitsipas – the number one seed here this week. He also reached the semi-final in Estoril, only to come across that man Tsitsipas again.
Grass is by no means his favourite surface, but he has reached the 4th round in Wimbledon twice.
Dasvidoff Fokina, 2017 Junior Wimbledon Champion
The 20-year old Spanish qualifier may be a new name to some, but he had a very good career as a youngster, culminating in his win in the 2017 Wimbledon Junior event, where he beat Axel Geller of Argentina in the final.
Born in Spain to a Swedish father and Russian mother, he has so far concentrated his efforts on the junior tours, and it was not until Morocco in April that he played his first ATP senior singles match, losing to Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany.
However, he had more success in the Estoril Open, reaching the semi-final and beating Gael Monfils and Taylor Fritz in the process.

Goffin is the third favourite to win the tournament outright, and should have too much know-how for the young Spaniard. Davidoff Fokina has form on grass as that junior Wimbledon title shows, but this is a step-up in class for him.
