Marton Fucsovics v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

There has been only one meeting between Fucsovics and Norrie on tour. The Brit emerged the winner in straight sets in the first round of the 2019 Rolex Monte Carlo Masters.

Fucsovics Has Struggled For Consistency

Marton Fucsovics will begin his Rogers Cup campaign still looking to overcome his stuttering form which has fluctuated between months in 2019.

Fucosovics – currently ranked No.55 in the world heading to Montreal – was a composed figure on tour after making a decent start to the season especially in February where he made the final in Sofia, and the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 events in Rotterdam and Dubai. That run propelled the Hungarian into a career-high ranking of No.31.

However, his form fell off a cliff since then (reaching just two quarterfinals until this week) and his unsuccessful title defense in Geneva ensured he lost a huge chunk of ranking points which meant he lost a handful of spots in the rankings.

The 27-year-old is usually adapted to play on quicker surfaces but he showed he can play on slow hard-courts and the clay as well as evident with his title win at the Swiss Open last year. He will be hoping for a more productive second half of the season as he bids to re-enter the Top 50.

Norrie Reached The Semis In Atlanta

Cameron Norrie, like his opponent, has also suffered from his fair share of inconsistent form in 2019. But Norrie is coming into this match on the back of three semifinal appearances this year with the most recent one in Atlanta just a few weeks ago.

The Brit will make his main-draw debut at the Rogers Cup and he will seek a few ranking points that could help his bid to an unlikely seeding spot at the US Open later this month.

The World No.62 will benefit greatly from playing on the hard-courts during the autumn swing after Wimbledon, unlike Fucsovics. He lost narrowly to Taylor Fritz in Atlanta, but he has plenty of time to make the necessary adjustments to his game to make the transition from grass to hard.

Fucsovics v Norrie Predictions & Tips

Norrie is slight favorite to win in this one and rightly so. The Brit has already beaten Fucsovics on clay earlier this year and the slower surface in Montreal will favor his chances of getting his second win. Norrie has a combative playing style with his flowing left-handed game. The longer the rallies, the more chances Norrie will have of ending points at his peril.

Tip: Norrie to win: 8/11 (888Sport)
