Borna Coric v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Three previous meetings have all resulted in Mannarino winning them all, including one earlier this year at Hertogenbosch. It was a tight encounter that went to the final set which the Frenchman won in a tie-breaker. The other two wins for Mannarino came at Antalya and the Miami Masters.

Struggling Coric Could Look at 2018 for Inspiration

With a win-loss record of 22-15, Coric has clearly not had the best of times this year, especially after winning 40 of his 60 matches last season. It comes as no surprise he has had no entries into the finals of any competition this year, and even lost in the first round at Umag last month.

That defeat came after he was looking to return to tennis following a hamstring injury that struck him at the Halle 2019 quarter-final. It was that injury that prevented Coric from playing at Wimbledon after having made it to the semi-finals at Hertogenbosch.

Coric did make it as far as the fourth round at the Australian Open and there was a semi-final appearance at Dubai and quarter-finals at the Miami Masters but barring that, the struggles have been real. Which is also why this Next Gen star will hope he can look at his showing last year, where he won the title at Halle and was the finalist at the Shanghai Masters, to help him come out of this rut.

Mixed Bag for Mannarino So Far

31-year-old Mannarino is a former world number 22 but his form over the past two years has pulled that ranking down to 69th in the world. Since the start of 2018, Mannarino has a 44-52 win-loss record, but it must be said that he does have something to look back to which should give him the confidence coming into the Rogers Cup.

Before he defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in the first round here, and his four losses out of the six matches he featured in even before that, Mannarino’s title win at Hertogenbosch provided the kind of spark he needed for the season. Wins over David Goffin and Coric, as mentioned above, helped no ends, and for a player who had begun the season with six successive defeats, that triumph would have been so much relief.

And while he has otherwise struggled these 19 months or so, that title win and the head to head against Coric should give him some shot in the arm coming into this match.

Borna Coric v Adrian Mannarino Predictions & Tips

Expect a gritty three-setter in this one like was the case the last time these two players had met, with the best offer of 13/8 for that.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 8/5 (888Sport)
