Defending champion Novak Djokovic is playing his first tournament after his epic Wimbledon final against Roger Federer, where he returns to Cincinnati as a strong favorite for the title.
The Serb opened his campaign against American Sam Querrey. Djokovic won a tight first set 7-5, where he looked rusty in the beginning. He followed this with a convincing second set, where he broke the American twice to close the set 6-1.
Djokovic is in the same half of the draw as Roger Federer, who he could potentially meet in the semi-finals. The number one seed will look to gain momentum and set himself up for that encounter, as the week progresses.

Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta had a strong US hard court season in 2017, where he was a US Open semi-finalist, losing to Kevin Anderson.
This resulted in him moving to a career high ranking of number 10 on the ATP circuit. What has followed since has been a spate of injuries, early losses and disappointments.
Carreno Busta is now ranked just outside the top 50 and looking to make a comeback from injury. The Spaniard came through qualifying here at Cincinnati and has made the round of 16, defeating American number one John Isner in straight sets.
Djokovic v Busta Predictions & Tips
While the Spaniard has been on a comeback and delivered a strong performance against American John Isner, he will need to play at a very high level to challenge the world number one.
Although Djokovic started slow in his opener, he got sharper as the match progressed and it is known only too well, that he gets better as the tournament progresses.
Carreno Busta has performed well on the hard courts in the past and will definitely look to play the best he can. However, it is unlikely to trouble the Serb and we can expect Djokovic to win in straight sets.
