John Isner had a bright start to the season but it is safe to say it has petered out over the course of it.
After losing in the very first round of the Australian Open, he made three semifinals in consecutive ATP tournaments. He then went on to reach the finals of the Miami Masters, but had to be content with the runners-up medal with Federer taking the crown.
While he has fared well in the smaller events on tour, he has definitely struggled at the slams and major events, apart from the Miami final. He will be looking to have a good run at the asian season after a disappointing US Open showing, where he lost in the round of 32 to Marin Cilic.

Monfils’s good form and his head to head make him a strong favourite. On the other hand, Isner’s biggest weapon, his serve, always gives him a chance to fight against anyone.
