Madison Keys v Danielle Collins Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before in the 2018 Indian Wells Open, Collins winning in straight sets.

Keys Eyeing Semi-Final Spot in Brisbane

Keys finished 2019 in the world’s top twenty for the fifth successive year, claiming the biggest title of her career in Cincinnati in August, her second tournament victory of the season after Charleston in April.

The 2017 US Open Finalist, after several seasons of up and down form, will be hoping for more consistency in 2020, and has started the year well, ending the challenge of wildcard Samantha Stosur of Australia in the second round, despite suffering an early break in the first set. However, she was able to break right back and then again in the twelve game, to take the first set.

Another break at the start of the second set proved decisive, and she was able to close out the match in 77 minutes, having served 10 aces and produced 24 winners.

Collins Makes a Strong Start to 2020

26-year-old Collins had her best ever year on the WTA Tour in 2019, with five wins over players ranked in the top twenty, and a run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open to her credit. Her form petered away towards the second half of the season but she would have had a lot of positives to take from that initial burst coming into 2020.

And she has proved yet again her liking for playing in Australia in Brisbane this week, starting with her opening round thrashing of 2018 Champion and WTA Finals runner-up, Elina Svitolina, beating the world number five in straight sets, conceding just two games in the process.

Her second round match against the Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, was even easier, Collins losing just one game, as she broke her opponent’s serve six times, and saved all five break points she faced, winning 80% of her points on second serve.

Madison Keys v Danielle Collins Predictions & Tips

Despite the fact that Collins won their previous meeting, Keys is the higher ranked player and will start the favourite. Collins though is in fine form in Brisbane, and may make Keys work hard for her victory.
