Alexander Zverev v Marco Cecchinato Head to Head

It will be a first career meeting between these two players.

Zverev Upbeat Despite Disastrous Start to 2020

After disastrous start to his 2020 season, Alexander Zverev still remains hopeful of producing a good result at the Australian Open. Zverev, who is the top-ranked German in the draw, was in horrendous form during the ATP Cup. He failed to guide Team Germany out of the Group Stages at the event, losing all three of his singles matches.

Zverev has been written off out of title contention by many pundits as a result of his appalling performances and his recent emotional breakdown with father.

The 22-year-old was heralded as the next Grand Slam winner after his big breakthrough at 2018 Nitto ATP Finals. However, he failed miserably in the 2019 season, dropping down to No.7 in the rankings and only winning one title last year (a 250 event in Geneva).

Cecchinato Also Searching For Lost Inspiration

Marco Cecchinato did not have then greatest of seasons in 2019 and that is despite winning his third career title in Buenos Aires during the South American clay-court swing.

Cecchinato failed to match his sensational heroics from 2018 French Open when he reached the semifinals on Parisian soil, defying the odds to beat Novak Djokovic en route. He lost in the first round to Nicolas Mahut last year and he tumbled down the rankings from inside the top-20 to outside the top-70.

In fact the defeat to the veteran Frenchman begun his dramatic demise. Cecchinato failed to win a single main draw match (albeit he did beat Bublik in Winston-Salem after retirement) for the remainder of the season at tour-level. His start to 2020 has not gone to plan, losing early in both Doha and Auckland.

Alexander Zverev v Marco Cecchinato Predictions & Tips

Alexander Zverev was in terrible form during the ATP Cup and his mental and physical state was not the best during the opening two weeks of the season. The German had quite possibly one of the shortest pre-season preparation after committing to play exhibition tournaments across continents in the off-season. He should however be too good for Cecchinato.

Tip: Zverev to win in straight sets: 8/13 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
