Karolina Pliskova v Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Head to Head

This has been one one-sided rivalry with six matches played between the two, and all six wins going for Pliskova. What makes it even more one-sided is Pliskova has lost just one set across those six matches, that loss coming in their last meeting which came on the grass courts of Eastbourne.

Pliskova’s Maiden Grand Slam Could Be On

For a player as talented as Pliskova, it’s a surprise she is yet to win a Grand Slam but the manner in which she has begun her season, it looks like this could be it. And while Serena Williams was in the other half of the draw, her early defeat on Friday only enhances Pliskova’s chances further.

Because the Czech has now played six matches this season and won each of them. Pliskova started off the year with a title at Brisbane, one that saw her defeat Naomi Osaka and Madison Keys in back to back matches, and followed it up with a couple of easy wins at the Australian Open as well.

She had a tricky first couple of rounds here, but eased past Kristina Mladenovic in her first before crushing Laura Siegemund in the second in a match she described as “ugly” because of the game that her opponent has. Pliskova was a point away from going down 1-4 in the first set but stormed back to win five in a row and seal the set. It became easier for her as the match went on and she won 6-3, 6-3.

And now, she takes on an opponent she has dropped just one set to in their career so far.

Pavlyuchenkova Good against Lower-Ranked Players?

Call it the luck of draw, but Pavlyuchenkova has had a couple of rough starts to the season so far. She was drawn to take on Petra Kvitova in the first round of the Brisbane International and while she fought hard, Pavlyuchenkova went down in three.

Following that defeat, she overcame Anett Kontaveit in the first round of the Adelaide International but then ended up playing Ash Barty in the second. Barty, fresh from a shoddy showing in the previous week, also dropped a set to Pavlyuchenkova but showed her class to register a three-set win.

Now, Pavlyuchenkova has looked very comfortable in her first two rounds, defeating Nina Stojanovic and Taylor Townsend in straight sets. Trouble is now that she will be up against the world number two, and not just any world number one but one who has had no worries whatsoever against her.

Karolina Pliskova v Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Predictions & Tips

Pavlyuchenkova will look to take a leaf out of Wang Qiang’s books, who stunned Serena Williams in their third round match after having lost the previous one 6-1, 6-0. However, Pliskova looks to be good for that, and should come away a winner. The only question is if Pavlyuchenkova can push Pliskova in this one, and we believe that might be the case.
