Anett Kontaveit v Iga Swiatek Head to Head

The pair have met once before, at the Cincinnati Open last year, Kontaveit winning in straight sets.

Kontaveit Thrashed Belinda Bencic

The world number 31 Kontaveit is into the fourth round in Melbourne for the second time, having also reached this stage two years ago. There her run saw her defeat Jelena Ostapenko, before she was beaten by the Spaniard Carlo Suarez Navarro.

The 24 year old, who won her solitary WTA title three years ago on grass at the Ricoh Open, will feel that she will never have a better chance of going further, after she thrashed Belinda Bencic in straight sets on the Margaret Court Arena on Saturday, dropping just one game to the number six seed.

That followed earlier victories over Astra Sharma of Australia, and Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain.

Polish Teenager Swiatek Not Over-Awed in Melbourne

18 year old Swiatek, who, as a junior, won the singles event at Wimbledon, and the doubles at the French Open in 2018, is still very inexperienced at this level, with much of her career to date spent on the junior ITF tour.

This is only her second time playing in the main draw in Melbourne, but the world number 57 shows no signs of being over-awed by her surroundings, and has progressed with three straight set victories to this point.

She began by beating the Hungarian doubles specialist Timea Babos, and then defeated the Spaniard Navarro, the woman who ended Kontaveit’s run two years ago. Her latest victory on Saturday saw her defeat the challenge of the number 19 seed, Donna Vekic of Croatia.

Anett Kontaveit v Iga Swiatek Predictions & Tips

Whoever wins this match will be playing in a Grand Slam quarter-final for the first time, so there is a lot at stake for both women. The pair have both enjoyed notable wins already in this tournament, so they will be equally confident ahead of this match. Kontaveit, though, is the more experienced, and that may be enough to give her the edge over the teenager.
