Richard Gasquet v Vasek Pospisil Head to Head

This will be the fifth  meeting between both players.  The head-to- head is tied at 2-2.

All their meetings have been on hard courts between 2013-2015, with Pospisil winning the first two and Gasquet the next two.

Gasquet Continues Bid For Montpellier Title #4

Three-time Montepllier champion Richard Gasquet has been on the tour for a decade and a half, dating back to his debut season in 2004-2005. The Frenchman was ranked as high as world number seven at his peak and is a winner of 15 ATP titles and has been a semi-finalist at Wimbledon and at the US Open.

The last season and a half has been one of injury breaks and poor form for Gasquet. He was out in early 2019 due to a hernia surgery. While his comeback was not the most convincing, he performed well at the ATP Masters in Cincinatti where he was a semi-finalist, being defeated by current world number 10, David Goffin.

Gasquet was ruled out of the Australian Open due to a knee injury and is back looking to make a strong impact  here at Montpellier.

The Frenchman started off with a clinical win against compatriot Giles Simon, followed by a hard-fought one against fellow veteran Feliciano Lopez, in a decider.

Vasek Pospisil was ranked as high as number 25 midway through the last decade, and had a strong singles and doubles career in the pipeline.

A flurry of injuries and poor recovery set him back a few years, and he has finally looked like making a comeback since the Fall of 2019.

Upsetting Next Gen star Karen Khachanov in the US Open was followed by a run to the final of the Davis Cup accompanying young Denis Shapovalov.

Incidentally, this week at Montpellier, Pospisil recorded a convincing win over Shapovalov and now looks ready for more as he is knocking on the top 100 in the rankings again.
