Venus Williams v Dayana Yastremska Head to Head
The pair have never met before. This will be the first match between the veteran America, and the Ukrainian woman who is half her age.

The older of the two Williams sisters is now 40, and questions are being raised about how much longer she will be able – or want – to compete at the top level.
She has won 49 WTA titles, including 7 Gram Slams, but the last of those victories came in Taiwan in 2016, and she has not even reached a final for three years.
2020 started poorly for her. She suffered a shock first round defeat to Coco Gauff in Melbourne, and then she and her partner Juan Sebastien Cabal went out of the mixed doubles at the same stage.
She then lost in the opening rounds of the Acapulco and Monterrey Open events, on both occasions to lower ranked players.
Venus did beat Victoria Azarenka in the first round of the Top Seed Open in Lexington last year but was then beaten by her sister Serena in three sets. She had a chance against Serena when she led her sister by a set and 4-2 in the second and while she lost that match, she will look to take that confidence into this tournament.

Yastremska, Rising Star of the Game
20-year-old Yastremska is one of the rising stars of the game.
Last year only Bianca Andreescu among teenagers was ranked higher than her in the world, and she has already won three WTA titles – the Hong Kong Open in 2018, and the events in Hua Hin, Thailand, and Strasbourg, France last year.
She also reached her first final of a Premier tournament this January, only to lose to the world number one Ashleigh Barty in Adelaide.
However, she became the last woman that Caroline Wozniacki beat in tour in Melbourne, and, although she helped Ukraine gain promotion from their Fed Cup group, she was defeated in the first round in Dubai.
She did better in Doha, reaching the quarter finals before losing to Garbine Muguruza, and matched that achievement in her only event since lockdown in Palermo, eventually losing to Camile Giorgi of Italy in three sets.

Yastremska is the clear favourite to progress from this match against the veteran. She is younger, faster around the court, and should have too much of an all-round game for Williams.
