This will be the first Serbia’s Djere and Hanfmann of Germany will be playing each other in a competitive match.

Djere Sends Schwartzman on His Way

It’s been bit of a struggle for Schwartzman in recent times, surely, but on clay one thought he would scrape his way through his quarterfinal against Djere. Especially given Djere himself hasn’t done too much of note in recent times.

It wasn’t to be and more vitally in a manner Schwartzman might not have expected.

Djere took the first set in a tie-breaker and then choked any possibility of a comeback to carve out a straight-set victory over the much higher-ranked Argentine. And this win came on the back of two qualifying victories before Djere defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Jannik Sinner in the first two rounds.

The Serb will now play in the second ATP semifinal of this season having lost to Schwartzman last time at Cordoba. This time, there would be no Schwartzman to upset his apple-cart and a final place awaits him.

Hanfmann Form Refuses to Decline

When Hanfmann went on his five-match winning streaks on three separate occasions during the pandemic break earlier this, one would have brushed the tournaments off as exhibition competitions.

Then, in the post-pandemic break scenario there were early exits at two of the Challengers and that train of thought seemed vindicated but come the Kitzbuhel Open, the 118th-ranked Hanfmann has already won another set of five matches in a row – two in the qualifiers and three in the main draw.

He wasted no time getting past Maximilian Marterer in the quarterfinal, beating him 6-2, 7-5 but that had come after wins over Alexander Bublik and Dusan Lajovic in the first two rounds of the tournament.

Now, can he get past Djere and make it to just his second final on the ATP circuit? Could get interesting.

Djere v Hanfmann Prediction & Tip

This could get to be an interesting tussle despite Djere going into the match as a favourite and we could be looking at a three-setter here.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (bet365)
