Jil Teichmann v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
This will be the first ever meeting between the Swiss Tecihmann and Blinkova from Russia.

Currently sitting on her career-best ranking of 52nd in the world, Teichmann will have a chance to improve upon her ranking as she returns back to the surface which saw her win two titles last season.
It was at the Prague Open in 2019 that Teichmann lifted her maiden WTA title and she doubled her tally with a victory at the Palermo Open later in the year. And Teichmann was smart enough not to defend either of her titles this year because of the new ranking rules which allow players to not lose points even if they do worse in a tournament than the previous tournament.
Instead, a clay-court specialist, Teichmann opted to play at the Lexington Open, where she reached the final and added a few more ranking points to her tally.
Now inching towards the top-50 in the rankings, Teichmann will have ample opportunities to do that because she hadn’t played at the Italian Open last season – and she shouldn’t have too many issues in her first two rounds either. She starts off against a qualifier.

Blinkova’s Poor Hard Court Year
The Russian world number 64 will be glad for a change in surroundings. Having played in nine main draw matches on hard court this year, Blinkova won just three of them and there were other matches she lost in the qualifiers as well.
And much like Teichmann, clay has been good for Blinkova too, something she would like to exploit as she makes her own bid to get closer to the top 50 in the rankings.
Blinkova had a bye in the first round of qualifiers and did not spend a lot of time on court beating Swiss player Stefanie Voegele in the second round. The question is if she can get the better of a second Swiss player in a row now.
The Russian will look to take confidence from her run at the French Open last year where she won three qualifying rounds to make the main draw before defeating Maragarita Gasparyan and Caroline Garcia in the first two rounds at Roland-Garros.

Teichmann is 2/5 to win this and while it could end up being bit of a tussle she should still win this. In all probability in straight sets too.
