Dusan Lajovic v Kevin Anderson Head to Head

The 34-year-old Anderson is 2-0 against the 30-year-old Serb. The South African beat Lajovic in straight sets in the first round of the Miami Masters in 2017 and in a tough three-setter in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters in 2018.

Lajovic Passes Mager Test

World No. 24 Dusan Lajovic safely sailed into the second round of the French Open despite dropping a set against unseeded Italian Gianluca Mager.

In a match that lasted 2 hours and 46 minutes, the 22nd seed Serb came out triumphant with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1 victory.

The 2019 Croatia Open champion and Monte-Carlo Masters finalist, Lajovic was the better player on the day, hitting 49 winners and making just 35 unforced errors compared to the 35 winners and 48 unforced errors made by the 2020 Rio Open finalist, Mager.

Lajovic, who reached the fourth round of the French Open in 2014 (his best-ever Grand Slam performance), came into this year’s tournament with a 13-11 overall record in 2020, which included a 6-5 record on clay, his favourite surface, where he has an overall career record of 76-72.

Having helped Serbia win the inaugural ATP Cup title earlier this year, Lajovic appeared in the quarterfinals of the Argentina Open and the German Open in 2020.

In the majors, his run at the Australian Open ended in the third round after he was ousted by David Schwatzmann in straight sets, while at the U.S. Open, he was beaten by Belarus’s Egor Gerasimov in the first round. But he will back himself to produce better results on his favoured surface in Paris.

However, he faces a very good opponent in the second round who has played in two grand slam finals in recent years.

Anderson Prevents All-Serb Match by Beating Djere

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson got off to a good start in Paris easing past 2019 Rio Open winner Laslo Djere in straight sets.

The 119th ranked Anderson, who reached the finals of the U.S. Open in 2017 and Wimbledon in 2018, needed just 2 hours and 11 minutes to beat the World No. 73, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.

Anderson, who has never gone past the Round of 16 at Roland Garros having made it that far on four occasions, will be relieved to have defeated Djere with ease, as he had come into the tournament on the back of three successive first round exits.

Alexander Zverev defeated him in the first round of the U.S. Open, which was followed by first round exits on his only two clay court appearances this year. Ugo Humbert knocked him out in straight sets at the Italian Open and Tommy Paul beat him in three at the German Open.

The 6’8” former World No. 5, who has six ATP titles to his name, has struggled to go past the second round of any tournament this year, having lost to Taylor Fritz in the second round of the Australian Open and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Cincinnati Masters.

Lajovic v Anderson Prediction and Tip

Anderson knows how to lift his game in majors and would like to keep his perfect record against Lajovic intact. However, going by their current form and record on clay, Lajovic holds the edge in this contest. The 22nd seed should win this in four.

Tip: Lajovic to win in four sets: 3/1 (bet365)
