Ons Jabeur v Jelena Ostapenko Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came way back in 2015, on the ITF circuit and Ostapenko had won that clay court encounter in three sets.

Jabeur Jogs Past Strycova
2020 has been a break-out year for the Tunisian and she showed yet again why when Jabeur crashed past Barbora Strycova in two easy sets to enter the second round.
Jabeur won 6-2, 6-2 breaking her opponent four times before Strycova finally showed some steel to pull one break back. The 32nd-ranked Tunisian was having none of it as she broke Strycova yet again to finish off the encounter in a mere 73 minutes.
This win followed Jabeur’ fourth round run at the French Open where she had stunned Aryna Sabalenka in the third. She had already shown what she is capable of at the Australian Open earlier this season when she marched into the quarterfinal on the back of wins over Johanna Konta, Caroline Garcia and Caroline Wozniacki.
Interestingly, this was Jabeur’s first win indoors since 2018, having played just one match last year and lost that in Moscow. In 2018, however, Jabeur had made it to the main draw of the Kremlin Cup through three qualifiers before stunning a string of stars to make it to the final of the tournament.

Ostapenko Oozing Confidence in Opening Win
Bookmakers had installed Petra Martic as a favourite in her opening round match against Ostapenko but not by much. Even we had reckoned it might not be an easy call in our preview (albeit we got it wrong in the games market!), as Ostapenko overcame a slow start to register a crushing win over Martic.
The Latvian won 6-3, 6-1 after getting broken in the very first game of the opening set, breaking back in the fourth game and then going ahead on that count in the sixth. Following that, Martic struggled to get anywhere close to her opponent, getting broken thrice in the second set as well.
Ostapenko’s confidence in her opening round win stems from one strong fact, her record indoors last season. After a second round exit at the St. Petersburg Open early in the season, she bulldozed her way into two finals in a row on the same surface – at Linz and Luxembourg.
While she went down to Cori Gauff in the former, Ostapenko was an easy winner over Julia Goerges in the latter.
Jabeur, however, will prove to be a difficult opponent.
Jabeur v Ostapenko Prediction and Tip
Jabeur’s form all season makes her a favourite in this one with odds of 4/6 to win it as compared to 11/10 for an Ostapenko win. Backing Jabeur to scoop this one in three.
Tip: Jabeur to win: 4/6 (bet365)
