Ekaterina Alexandrova v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

There have been six previous matches between these two players, spread across all the possible different surfaces and the scoreline is tied at 3-3. Two of these matches came earlier this year and led to a 1-1 head to head, while in their only match indoors, which was at Linz in 2018, Alexandrova came through in straight sets.

Forgettable Post-Pandemic Season for Alexandrova

For someone who has won a title in each of the previous three seasons including earlier this year in January when Alexandrova won one at the Shenzhen, her performances since the resumption of tennis have left much to desire.

The Russian took seven tournaments before finally winning back to back matches in a tournament, with that sparkle coming at the French Open but even there her wins came against players who started off the encounters with odds of 6/1 and 7/3 for them.

The first time she met a tougher opponent, in the third round in the form of Elina Svitolina, Alexandrova went down in straight sets.

Indoors, she had earlier made it to the semifinal at the St. Petersburg Open, about nine months ago, but in the last tournament she played in Ostrava, Alexandrova blew a set lead in the first round to Anett Kontaveit to lose in three.

Siniakova Struggles Indoors

Much like her opponent, Alexandrova, Siniakova is coming off a first round exit at the Ostrava Open, losing to defending Linz Open champion Cori Gauff in that match in straight sets. However, unlike the Russian, Siniakova’s form has been slightly more consistent.

At the French Open, she made the third round with wins over Lauren Davis and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova while at the Strasbourg Open before that, Siniakova was a quarterfinalist – she also defeated Alexandrova in the second round in straight sets in that tournament.

Siniakova’s outdoor and indoor hard court records aren’t much to write home about though. For instance, she began the season with three successive first round defeats at the Shenzhen Open, Australian Open and St. Petersburg Open and while she made it to the main draw of both, the Dubai International and the Qatar Open, there was only one main draw victory for her across those two.

Over the last two seasons, Siniakova has won just one of her seven matches she has played indoors as well and it wouldn’t come across as too much surprise if a win continues to elude her here too.

Alexandrova v Siniakova Prediction And Tip

The Russian is 2/5 to win this and while we don’t expect this to be a landslide victory given her own form issues, Siniakova’s poor record outside clay make Alexandrova a strong favourite to win this.

Tip: Alexandrova to win: 2/5 (bet365)
