Jil Teichmann v Océane Dodin Head to Head
The two have never faced each other in a competitive match before. This will be the first-ever encounter between them.

Teichmann’s Topsy-Turvy Form
2-time WTA title winner Jil Teichmann has had a mixed bag of a year. Unlike others who suffered a dip in form after the tennis hiatus, she had been struggling with results at the beginning of the year; contrary to her 2019 form that saw her clinch two titles.
After the Covid-19 break, she shone in the 2020 Top Seed Open in August, where she reached the final but lost to Jennifer Brady in straight sets. That coupled with a second-round berth in the Western & Southern Open gave her a career-best ranking of 52nd then.
But her results turned back to her start-of-the-year form. She followed up that Western & Southern Open result with two straight first-round eliminations in New York and Rome, redeemed herself with a run to the quarters in Strasbourg, but struggled in Paris to earn instant elimination in the first round of the French Open. She also failed at the last huddle in the Ostrava Open qualifiers, cementing her bad run of form.
This is why despite being a seeded player, she comes into the match and the tournament as an underdog. All that plus her awful indoor court 12-13 win/loss career record justifies Dodin’s favorite status.

Dodin Coming In Off A Good Tournament
Unlike her opponent, Océane Dodin had a good start to the year. She won a W25 tournament in early March and also reached the quarterfinals in St. Petersburg and Lyon, showing some similar glimpses of her 2016/2017 form that saw her win her sole WTA title and reach as high as 46th on the rankings.
Post the Covid-19 break, she might have struggled in Paris on an unfavored clay and in the Us open to a stronger opponent, but signs of her good form popped up recently when she won another W25 tournament, this time the W25 Reims.
Her indoor court record for the year is also great. She has an 18-3 record for the year, although on different levels of the sport. However, she’ll be buoyed to take on someone who’s struggling overall, which should play well to her favor.
Teichmann v Dodin Prediction and Tip
Dodin’s indoor record is impressive. Up against someone who’s currently struggling, she should be expected to easily control and take the match. Teichmann might push her to a third set, but Dodin should eventually get the job done.
Tip: Océane Dodin to win: 4/7 (bet365)
