Viktoria Kuzmova v Stefanie Voegele Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two but that wasn’t on the WTA circuit – instead they had faced off in the Bundesliga women’s tennis competition which Kuzmova won in three gruelling sets.

Kuzmova Out of Sorts Since Pandemic Return

Kuzmova would have expected to do better than what she has since the return to tennis following the pandemic break. Having participated in a few tournaments during the break, the signs of some sort of a breakout were there but the Slovakian 22-year-old hasn’t won a single main draw match.

One of the reasons for that has been the lack of tournaments too – Kuzmova having played just four since August – but even in those competitions, she has lost in the first round or earlier (the qualifiers at the Cincinnati Open).

It hadn’t been this bad at the beginning of the year for Kuzmova. She had made the second round at the Hobart International before winning a couple of rounds at the Lyon Open as well.

Her underwhelming showing across the past two seasons, however, has meant her ranking has slid down to 96th in the world from a career-best of 43rd and while she is playing a qualifier here for a place in round two, Kuzmova would do well to not take a win for granted.

Voegele’s Form No Better

It looks to be a match of the equals, as Voegele is another player who hasn’t won too much all season.  In fact, since making it to the final of the Newport Beach Open in early February this year, Voegele hasn’t won a single main draw match.

More recently, Voegele failed to qualify for the main draw of the Ostrava Open, having earlier lost in the qualifiers of the Cincinnati Open and Rome Open as well. And when she did enter the main draw, the defeats came in the first round.

Such has been Voegele’s form slump, the former world number 42 hasn’t won a match at Grand Slams since her second round entry at the 2017 Australian Open.

Up against her is another player struggling for form and this could lead to an interesting, and a tough battle between these two.

Kuzmova v Voegele Prediction And Tip

Neither player can lay a claim to being in any sort of form coming into this match and we could in fact see a three-setter or a match with over 21.5 games in the encounter.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 10/11 (bet365)
