Barbora Krejčíková v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

The only match between these two players came on the ITF circuit in 2014. It was played on clay, with Krejcikova winning in straight sets.

Krejčíková Needs Back to Back Three-Setters

Twice now Krejcikova has faced opponents who have not been favourites in their matches, and twice she has been stretched to three sets. While in the opening round, Krejcikova needed to overcome the loss of the second set to Harmony Tan, she was down a set in her second round encounter against Greet Minnen.

Minnen was off to a flying start with a break in the third game of the opening set, winning to love but lost her own serve to love in the sixth. They went on serve till 5-5 before Krejcikova dropped serve yet again and this time around Minnen didn’t waste any time in serving out for the set.

The second set also looked to have Minnen seizing control but unable to carve out a breakthrough. In the third game, for instance, Krejcikova faced three break-points but managed to stave them off, and then again faced one in the seventh game.

Even in the tie-breaker that followed, Krejcikova was down 0-2 and 2-4, came back to miss out on two set-points before winning the set off the third.

While Krejcikova would have been relieved with that, Minnen didn’t seem to be in the mood to capitulate easily and neither player managed a break of serve till the eighth game. At 4-4 though, Krejcikova finally edged ahead on her opponent’s serve before serving out successfully for the match.

Sasnovich Also Overturns Deficit

While Sasnovich was clinical in her first round win over Bernarda Pera, she was forced to come back from being a set down against the 236th-ranked Jana Fett in the second.

Interestingly, it was Sasnovich who drew first blood with a break of serve in the very first game but Fett made it 2-2 very soon. Another break of serve for Fett followed in the eighth game despite blowing away three break-points, before she clinched the opening set in the next game.

A seemingly out of sorts Sasnovich faced a battling opening game in the second set, saved multiple break points but then all of a sudden found her rhythm to break Fett twice in two games. An easy serve in the seventh game gave her the set which levelled the match.

Sasnovich, who is a former world number 30, carried that confidence forward to break her opponent two more times in a row. While she got broken back in a string of difficult service games for both players, Sasnovich always maintained her advantage and completed a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Krejčíková v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

This is anybody’s match here, with Krejcikova starting out at 11/10 while Sasnovich being at 8/11 to win it. Could see a three-setter.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (bet365)
