Veronika Kudermetova v Paula Badosa Head to Head

This will be the second meeting between the two 23-year-olds. Kudermetova won their only contest in straight sets in the Round of 64 of the Indian Wells Open in 2019.

In-Form Kudermetova On a Roll

Veronika Kudermetova needed just an hour and 16 minutes as she dispatched Italy’s Bianca Turati 6-2, 6-1 in the Round of 32 on Friday.

The Russian, who defeated 10th seed Annett Kontaveit 7-5, 6-1 in the first round on Wednesday, put up another solid display as she overpowered the Italian qualifier with her aggressive game.

A 2020 Hobart International semifinalist who ended last year with quarterfinal finishes in Linz and Ostrava, Kudermetova has been broken just once in the tournament — early in the first set against Kontaveit in the first round.

But she recovered quickly and since then it has been a near flawless performance from the Russian, who converted 4 of 8 break points against the Estonian and 5 of 10 against Turati.

She will next play an opponent who has been gritty and solid in her first two rounds of the tournament.

Badosa Eases Past Cornet

A couple of days after playing out an engaging three-setter, Paula Badosa needed an hour and 44 minutes to defeat France’s Alize Cornet in the second round on Friday.

Broken just once in the match, the Spaniard looked sharp overall as she wrapped up the contest 6-4, 6-4.

Badosa, who reached the fourth round of a major for the first time at the French Open last year, needed three sets to beat Anastasija Sevastova in the first round on Wednesday. Having raced to a 1-0 lead, Badosa saw the Latvian fight back in the second before wrapping up the contest 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in an hour and 51 minutes.

Seen as one of the bright young stars of the women’s game, the 2020 Istanbul Open semifinalist looked in decent touch against Cornet, attacking well and showing equally good defence, as she sailed past the Frenchwoman without dropping a set.

Kudermetova v Badosa Prediction and Tip

It’s an evenly-matched contest on paper and expecting it to be a close one on the court too with Kudermetova winning in three.

Tip: Kudermetova to win in three sets: 3/1 (bet365)
