Andrey Rublev v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head

They are 1-1 on the tour.

Fucsovics beat Rublev in a Davis Cup rubber in 2017, which saw the match go the distance, while Rublev defeated the Hungarian at the French Open last year, winning the Round-of-16 contest in four sets.

They also met at the Barcelona Open qualifiers in 2016, with Fucsovics winning a closely contested three-setter.

Rublev Ousts Tsitsipas To Reach a 10th Final

World No. 8 Andrey Rublev inched closer to an eighth career title on Sunday, as the 23-year-old ousted second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinal of the Rotterdam Open on Saturday.

The Russian saved all five of the break points he faced in the match (all of which were in the first set) and converted two of five to oust the Greek 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) in an hour and 38 minutes.

The win improved Rublev to 12-1 this year. He won all four of his matches at the ATP Cup and reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open before being knocked out by compatriot Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian, who will be playing in a 10th ATP final on Sunday, has been in top form in Rotterdam. Beginning with straight set wins over American Marcos Giron and Briton Andy Murray, he had to endure a tough three-set quarterfinal against Jeremy Chardy, before seeing off the Frenchman.

Rublev had a very successful 2020 season, finishing with a 41-10 record and five ATP titles, which included triumphs in Doha, Adelaide, Hamburg, St. Petersburg and Vienna. His other two titles came in Moscow in 2019 and Umag in 2017.

A four-time major quarterfinalist, Rublev has lost just two finals in his career, in Doha 2018 and Hamburg 2019. Since Hamburg, he is 6-0 in finals and will be looking to extend that streak on Sunday.

Fucsovics Into His Third Final

Facing Rublev in the final will be Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics, who reached a third career final after outplaying Croatia’s Borna Coric in the semifinal on Saturday.

In what was a dominating performance, the Hungarian converted five of five break point chances and saved two of three to beat the World No. 26 6-4, 6-1 in an hour and 26 minutes.

The win improved Fucsovics to 7-2 this year. He is on a six-match winning streak in Rotterdam, having won two qualifying round to enter the main draw.

Barring a very close affair in the Round of 32, where he had to hold off a determined Reilly Opelka in a match that saw three tie-breaks, the road to finals has been pretty smooth for the Hungarian.

The World No. 59 eased past Spain’s Alejandro Davodovich Fokina in the Round of 16 and American Tommy Paul in the last eight before dispatching Coric in the final four.

The 28-year-old right-hander will be looking to add to his Geneva Open title that he won in 2018. He also reached the final in Sofia in 2019, but finished runner-up to Daniil Medvedev.

Rublev v Fucsovics Prediction and Tip

Rublev is in red-hot form and has a 6-0 streak in finals. Fucsovics has got into a good rhythm as well, so expect a tough fight from the Hungarian, but the Russian will be the favorite to win.

Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 8/13 (bet365)
