Davidovich Fokina Looking To Build on Recent Form
Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina comes into the tournament with a 3-2 record this year.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, who suffered an injury during his first match of the year at a challenger event in France, withdrew from the Australian Open, but came back later to reach the last eight in Montpellier, his first ATP event this year.
Starting with a three-set win over Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the first round in Montpellier, Davidovich Fokina ousted fourth seed Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets, but went down fighting to the big-serving Egor Gerasimov in the Round of 16.
This week, the World No. 51 competed in his second ATP event of the year in Rotterdam, knocking out compatriot and fifth seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the Round of 32, before falling to Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in the next round.
Yet to reach a final on the Tour, Davidovich Fokina has shown good form since the tour resumed after a lockdown due to the coronavirus last year, reaching the fourth round of the U.S. Open, semifinals in Cologne-1 and quarterfinals in Cologne-2, before ending the year with a run to the Round of 16 at the Paris Masters.
In addition to the semifinal in Cologne last year, he also made it to the final four in Estoril in his second main draw appearance in 2019.

Wild Card Petros Tsitsipas To Find the Going Tough
Facing the Spaniard will be Greek wild card Petros Tsitsipas, the younger brother of two-time defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas. The 20-year-old, who will be making a main draw debut, featured in the doubles event at the Rotterdam Open this week.
Partnering with brother Stefanos, Petros reached the quarterfinal by winning the Round-of-16 match against the Belgian pair Sander Gille and Jiran Villegan.
The Greeks were knocked out by the Finnish-French duo of Henri Kontenin and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the last eight stage.
The right-handed Petros, who has represented Greece in the Davis Cup, is ranked 801 in doubles.
Davidovich Fokina v Tsitsipas Prediction and Tip
While the focus will be on Petros, Davidovich Fokina will start a heavy favourite. Expect the Spaniard to wrap it up quickly and advance to the next round.
Tip: Fokina to win in straight sets: 1/2 (bet365)
