Anett Kontaveit vs Timea Babos Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the tour.

Babos Looking to Get Some Quality Wins
Timea Babos is among the well-known and feared doubles player on the WTA circuit. Currently ranked #6 in the doubles ranking, she won the French Open doubles with Kristina Mladenovic last season.
On the singles circuit, however, her run has been entirely in an opposite spectrum. Case in point, the 27-year-old Hungarian is currently ranked in the early 100s.
Babos is heading in this game after a rather mediocre run in the Lyon Open past week. She reached as far as the second round before falling to the 18-year-old and eventual champion Clara Tauson. The fact that Babos succumbed to a player who is years behind in experience tells us that she isn’t that great of a form.
It was the same story in the Australian Open Series too, where she never made it past the second round in any of the events. In the Australian Open, she started as a qualifier and was beaten by Anastasia Potapova. The following week, she fell to Greet Minnen in the Phillip Island Trophy.
The last time Babos had a solid run in a WTA event was in the 125K series event in Taipei in November 2019, where she lost in the final to Vitalia Diatchenko.

Kontaveit Fresh off a Quarterfinal Run
Anett Kontaveit has had a significantly better run than her Hungarian adversary in 2021. She reached the final in the Grampians Trophy – a WTA 500 event and a first such feat for her. However, the final wasn’t played due to scheduling difficulties.
Nonetheless, the Estonian built on that momentum a bit with a third-round run in the Australian Open where she was beaten by Shelby Rogers.
Kontaveit then moved her focus to the Middle East swing, starting with the Qatar Open last week. The 25-year-old had a good stint there as she beat former World No. 1 Angelique Kerber. In the quarterfinal, however, she succumbed to the eventual champion Petra Kvitova 3-6, 6-3, 2-6.
The number 15 seed has reached the finals of other big events like the Stuttgart Open and Wuhan Open. Additionally, she has also featured in the Miami Open semifinal a couple of years ago. Last season, she reached the final in the WTA Palermo and the fourth round of the Western & Southern Open and the US Open.
Kontaveit vs Babos Prediction and Tip
All said and done, Kontaveit is a formidable player with a fair deal of wins under her belt. Expect her to win this game comfortably.
Tip: Kontaveit to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
