Keys Continues Comeback Effort
Having last played at the French Open last season, Keys finally kick-started her campaign this year with an opener at the WTA Doha last week and did remarkably well. A 6-4, 6-1 win over Belinda Bencic, the finalist at the Adelaide International a week or so ago would have given Keys the confidence she still has it in her to shrug off the rustiness and come back strongly.
Unfortunately for her, that win was followed by a fizzle-out against Maria Sakkari in the second round, where Keys lost 6-2, 6-2 to bow out of the competition.
Last season was bit of a mixed one for Keys when she started off with a runnerup trophy at the Brisbane International but the lack of tennis after that meant the American didn’t have too many great results under her belt.
At the Australian Open, she was knocked out in the third round, as was the case at the US Open while she was ousted in the first round at the French Open, ending the season on an 8-5 win-loss record for the season.
She will know this is a good chance to start things off with a convincing performance first up.

En-shuo in a Rare WTA Main Draw
A former Australian Open girls singles winner, En-shuo will hope to make this appearance count, as she prepares to feature in her first WTA tournament main draw since the second round appearance at the Hua Hin Open last season. That’s nearly 13 months since.
Once ranked 150th in the world, En-shuo is coming off back to back qualifying wins, defeating Monica Niculescu and Misaki Doi in straight sets.
She had earlier lost in the Doha Open and Australian Open qualifiers and played in only three ITF circuit tournaments other than that – not winning more than two matches in either of them.
As a result, expecting the Taiwanese player to overcome the gulf of quality between her and her higher-pedigreed opponent would one too far.
Keys v En-shuo Prediction and Tip
Keys is an overwhelming 1/5 to win this and 8/11 to do that in straight sets. Aiming for the latter option on this one.
Tip: Keys to win in straight sets: 8/11 (bet365)
