Caroline Garcia v Martina Trevisan Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the two 27-year-olds.

Garcia Battles Past Kerber
Caroline Garcia got her third career win over Germany’s Angelique Kerber in their ninth meeting on Monday.
Having lost the first set, the Frenchwoman rallied in the second to force the decider and then rebounded from a 1-4 deficit in the third to clinch the one-hour-and-43-minute contest 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The first round win in Dubai improved Garcia to 5-5 this year.
A seven-time winner on the Tour, Garcia made a shock exit from the Lyon Open last week, losing to eventual finalist Viktorija Golubic 1-6, 2-6 in the second round.
Seeded third in the competition, Garcia had kicked off the tournament with a three-set win against compatriot Oceane Dodin, which snapped a three-match losing streak for the former World No. 4, who had lost to Naomi Osaka in the second round of the Australian Open, Misaki Doi in the first round of the Philip Island Trophy and Anastasija Sevastova in the first round of Adelaide International.
The World No. 47, who finished 2020 with an 11-11 record, started the new year with two wins in a row at the Gippsland Trophy, before falling to Elise Mertens in the Round of 16.
At the Australian Open, Garcia got her third win of the season, when she defeated Slovenia’s Polona Hercog in the first round, before falling to the eventual champion in the next.
A 10-time WTA finalist, Garcia won her last title in Nottingham in 2019.

Trevisan Replaces Azarenka
Facing Garcia in the second round on Tuesday will be Italy’s Martina Trevisan, who failed to qualify directly after losing her second qualifier, but got an opportunity to play as a lucky loser after the seventh seed Victoria Azarenka pulled out with a back injury.
The World No. 90, who came into the tournament having not won any of her four singles matches this year, snapped her streak with a come-from-behind win against Australia’s Arina Rodionova in the first qualifying round on Saturday.
Trevisan won the contest 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the second qualifying round, which she lost to Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko 6-2, 6-1. However, the Belarusian’s withdrawal has given her an opportunity to compete in the main draw.
The 27-year-old lefty, who made a stunning run to the quarterfinals of the French Open on her main draw debut as a qualifier last year, started the 2021 season on a dismal note.
Trevisan made a 0-3 start with defeats to Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva in Abu Dhabi, Germany’s Andrea Petkovic at the Gippsland Trophy and Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Australian Open.
Her hopes of making the main draw in Doha ended with a straight sets defeat to Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova in the first qualifying round.
Garcia v Trevisan Prediction and Tip
There is little doubt that Garcia is the superior player in this matchup. Although she has had her struggles of late, she will take a lot of confidence from her Monday’s win over Kerber. Trevisan on the other hand has been in woeful touch. Expect the Frenchwoman to win this in straight sets.
Tip: Garcia to win in straight sets: 4/5 (bet365)
