Galan, a Colombian Number One

Galan is the Columbian number one, who is now at a career high world ranking, largely due to his recent exploits in Santiago, where he got to the semi-finals before losing out to local man Christian Garin. in straight sets.

That was his best performance in an ATP event since the French Open last year, where he came through qualifying to beat first Cameron Norrie and then Tennys Sandgren. He was heavily beaten by Novak Djokovic in the third round, but he had left his mark on the tournament.

Since then, he has spent most of his time on the Challenger tour playing clay court events, winning a tournament in Lima, last November.

Last week he was knocked out in the first round in Acapulco by the Norwegian, Casper Ruud, going down in straight sets.

Brazilian Qualifier Seyboth Wild Looking to Go Deeper

Last year Seyboth Wild made history, when he won his maiden ATP event in Santiago. He became not only the youngest Brazilian to win a senior ATP event, but the first man born after the year 2000 to win a non-exhibition title.

That though was on clay, where he has enjoyed the vast majority of his success on both the senior, and junior, tours.

However, he did win the US Open title as a junior, so he knows that he has the ability to play on hard courts in his locker.

He failed to qualify for the Australian Open, and his time on the South American clay court swing did not go so well this year – he was beaten in the first round in Cordoba, and failed to qualify in Buenos Aires.

It was the same story in Acapulco, where he failed to progress out of the qualifying tournament. However, he has had better fortune here in Miami, where he beat first Toby Alex Kodat of the USA, and then his compatriot Michael Kruger to earn his place in the main draw.

Galan v Seyboth Wild Prediction and Tip

This is a hard match to predict, because both are playing away from their natural milieu of clay. Galan is the higher-ranked player but there is not much in it, and the Brazilian might just edge it in the end.

Tip: Seyboth Wild to win: 1/1 (bet365)
