Emil Ruusuvuori v Mikael Ymer Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between the 21-year-old Finn and the 22-year-old Swede.

Ruusuvuori Stuns Zverev

World No. 83 Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland fought back from a set down to stun World No. 7 Alexanderz Zverev in the second round of the Miami Open on Friday.

The Finn, who was outplayed by the German in the first set, made a resounding comeback in the next two to defeat last week’s Mexican Open champion 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Ruusuvuori got as many as 18 break point opportunities in the contest, and he took six of them to win the match in two hours and five minutes.

The unseeded Finn had also needed three sets to win his first round contest against Spain’s Carlos Alacaraz on Thursday.

Holding off a valiant comeback bid from the 17-year-old Spaniard, Ruusuvuori won the two-hour-and-12-minute contest 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.

The win over Zverev was Ruusuvuori’s second over a top 10 player. The 21-year-old had earlier beaten Dominic Thiem in a Davis Cup match.

A semifinalist in Nur Sultan last year, Ruusuvuori is 7-5 this year. It’s the first time this season that he has won back-to-back matches in the main draw. In all his previous five tournaments this year, he won the first round match but lost in the second round.

Ymer Shocks 27th Seed

On Sunday, Ruusuvuori will face World No. 95 Miakael Ymer, who battled past the 2021 Qatar Open champion Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round on Friday.

Winning 52% of total points in the match, Ymer converted seven of 12 break points while saving four of 10 to defeat the Georgian 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in two hours and 13 minutes.

The win over the 27th seed Basilashvili, who had defeated Roger Federer en route the Doha title earlier this month, improved Ymer to 4-3 this season.

Making his fourth main draw appearance in Miami, Ymer began with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo in the first round on Wednesday.

This is the first time that he has reached the third round of the Miami Masters, having made two first round exits and reached only as far as the second round in 2018.

The 22-year-old Swede was pretty good at this year’s Australian Open, winning a five-set thriller against 26th seed Hubert Hurkacz in the first round and then edging out Carlos Alcaraz in four to reach the third round of a major for the first time in his career. Stefanos Tsitsipas ended his run in the Round of 32.

Ruusuvuori v Ymer Prediction and Tip

With both players punching above their weights this promises to be a cracking contest. Ruusuvuori will, however, hold a slight edge as he has been more consistent this season and has caused a massive upset in the second round..

Tip: Ruusuvuori to win: 1/2 (bet365)
