Ivashka, a Scourge of the Spaniards This Tournament

Ivashka has enjoyed his time so far in Marbella, and now finds himself in the quarter-final of a senior ATP event, a rare position for a man who spends most of his time on the junior tours.

He has particularly enjoyed playing and beating Spanish opponents in their backyard, beginning in the first round with Pedro Martinez, the world number 93, who he defeated in straight sets, although the second went to a tie-break.

Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina, the world 56, was expected to pose a stronger challenge in the second round, but it proved to be an easy win for the man from Belarus.

Ivashka broke in the opening game of the match, and after saving five break-back points broke once more. One further break gave him the set.

The second set was closer as Davidovich-Fokina im0proved, but the Spaniard dropped his serve again in the sixth game and Ivashka served out from there.

Munar Beats the Number Two Seed

Munar warmed-up for this tournament by reaching the final of a Challenger event in Marbella last week, so he was already used to the courts and the conditions when this event started.

In the first round he played Henri Laaksonen and beat the Swiss in straight sets in straight sets, securing the only break in the first set and then easing away in the second.

That earned him  a second round match with the second seed, Fabio Fognini of Italy, and Munar pulled off a big surprise by beating the world number 18 in straight sets for the loss of just three games.

The tone for the match was set right from the start as Fognini dropped his first two service games. He seized one of them back, but dropped his serve again straight way, and Munar was able to convert his third set point.

The second set was even more one-sided as Fognini had serious problems with his serve and crashed out of the tournament after giving up three successive breaks.

Ivashka v Munar Prediction and Tip

The Belarussian has enjoyed great success playing against Spaniards this week, but Munar is playing well and will be keen to restore national honour.

Tip: Munar to win: 1/3 (bet365)
