Matteo Berrettini v Marco Cecchinato Head to Head
The pair have met once before, in the quarter-final of a Challenger event in clay in Italy in 2017, Cecchinato winning in three sets.

Berrettini Looking for First Win of 2021 on Clay
Berrettini is still looking for his first win on clay of 2021, having been given a first round bye in Belgrade.
His only other match in the surface was last week in Monte Carlo, but that did not go so well, beaten in the first round of Monte Carlo by the Spaniard, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
That had been his first match since the Australian Open where the semi-finalist from Flushing Meadows in 2019 yet again impressed in a Grand Slam, reaching the fourth round only to have to withdraw before his match with Stefanos Tsitsipas with injury.
His last clay court event was last year’s French Open, where he reached the third round, only to fall to a surprise defeat to the German, Daniel Altmaier.

Cecchinato Beat Serbian Opposition
Cecchinato, unlike his compatriot, has already played a lot of tennis in 2021, although he has yet to progress beyond the second round of any tournament, the stage he reached last week in Monte Carlo before losing to David Goffin in straights sets.
The Italian was given a tie against the veteran Serb, Victor Troicki in the first round, one of the players who contracted Covid after the ill-fated Adria Exhibition series last June. organised by Novak Djokovic.
Cecchinato broke the Serb early in the first set and then consolidated his lead with another break to take control of the match.
The second set was more even, but again Cecchinato secured an early break. Troicki had one chance to break back, could not convert it, and that was the last opportunity he got, as Cecchinato wrapped up the match.
Berrettini v Cecchinato Prediction and Tip
Despite Cecchinato winning their one previous match, the pair have been on different career trajectories since then, and Berrettini has become a top ten player. He may be a little rusty on clay, but still should have more than enough to beat his compatriot.
Tip: Berrettini to win: 8/15 (bet365)
