Korda has had a solid season to start things off but all of those results came on the hard court surfaces. The switch to clay hasn’t been the most sterling.

Playing in the main draw of a Grand Slam for just the second time in his career after Korda had won three qualifiers to make it there, the American then overcame Andreas Seppi, John Isner and Pedro Martinez in the first three rounds to make it through to the round of 16.
And while he easily lost to Rafael Nadal in that match, Korda has given enough evidence to prove he can take on some of the best on clay. Can he shrug off his Belgrade shocker and move on to a solid performance here though?

Travaglia’s Form Falls Away Since Great Ocean Road
Having reached the final of the Great Ocean Road Open in Melbourne in the lead-up to the Australian Open, Travaglia was looking good to push on to break into the top 50. Unfortunately for him, since then, his form has dramatically fallen away.
In fact such has been the dip in results, Travaglia has played in seven tournaments since then and lost in the first round at every single one of them.
This includes three competitions on clay, at which he lost to Gilles Simon, Pablo-Carreno Busta and Filip Krajinovic in the first round too. Travaglia’s only wins have come at the qualifying stages of the Monte-Carlo Masters and the only reason his ranking hasn’t fallen off the cliff has been to do with the tweaked system.
The question now is whether he can try to build on his fighting defeat to Krajinovic – a 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 loss – or if Korda will have it very easy.
