Cori Gauff v Amanda Anisimova Head to Head
This will be the first ever meeting between the 30th-rnked Gauff and Anisimova who is ranked 40th in the world.

It’s been some time coming but Anisimova has finally managed successive wins in a tournament. The last time she did that was in the 2020 French Open, following which she had participated in seven tournaments, including an ITF competition, but without winning two matches in a row in it.
In recent times, the signs of a resurrection have been there. Like when Anisimova managed to stretch both Maria Sakkari and Elina Svitolina to three sets, in Madrid and Rome.
That’s finally come to fruition here in Parma with Anisimova coming through in straight sets in both her first two rounds. Having defeated Jasmine Paolini on Sunday, the American routed Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday to seal her place in the last eight.
The world number 40 needed an hour and 25 minutes against Schmiedlova and was always ahead of the curve through the encounter. She broke Schmiedlova twice in the first set before dropping her own serve but closed it out soon after following a third break.
In the second, there was an exchange of breaks to kick things off before Anisimova settled down nicely, breaking her opponent once more and carving out the win.

Gauff Continues Clay Court Improvement
A semifinalist at the Italian Open only the last week, Gauff has been up and running this week again in Parma and done well to reach the quarterfinal. And while the bookmakers cannot decide whether she is a favourite or not, it is remarkable that we are already looking at a potential semifinal spot for a 17-year-old.
Gauff’s got there in style too.
In the first round, Gauff needed two tie-breakers to get past Kaia Kanepi but then turned on the screws coming into her second round match. Gauff routed Camilla Giorgi 6-2, 6-3 to gallop in the last eight and set up this very interesting clash against another young American.
Never in her short career before this has Gauff managed to make it to back to back semifinals, something she has a chance to do now.
Except Anisimova’s return to form could make things that much tougher for Gauff.
