Sloane Stephens v Sara Errani Head to Head
There have been two matches played between these two players but long ago and both won one. The first, in 2011, came in Cincinnati and it Errani who came through in straight sets before Stephens made it 1-1 the following year in Miami.

She was once ranked third in the world but a horrible slide in Stephens’ performances has translated into a slip down to the 65th rank on the WTA charts. The good news, however, is it seems Stephens is finding some of her lost rhythm.
And the turnaround looks to be happening since the time the clay swing began.
At Charleston last month, Stephens won three rounds before falling to Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinals. A second round appearance at the Madrid followed and here at Parma, the American has already won a couple of rounds.
Her latest victory came against Daria Kasatkina and that was after she had gone into the match at 6/4 odds to win it and then lost the first set 6-1. She also fell a break down on three separate occasions in the second set, but fought back each time to clinch the set, and then endured a similar issue in the decider.
Stephens made it 4-4, saved three more break-points in the 11th game before breaking Kasatkina in the next one to clinch the match in two hours and eight minutes.
One cannot be sure if she is completely out of the woods yet but there’s a definite sign of much better rhythm on court.

Errani Benefits from Sorribes Tormo Injury
Having failed to qualify for the Italian Open following her back to back opening round defeats in Charleston and Istanbul, Errani finally made it to the quarterfinals in Parma with successive wins.
The second of those twin victories came on Wednesday against Sara Sorribes Tormo with the Italian coming through after her opponent retired midway through the final set.
This was after Errani had come back from a set and 1-3 down to level the proceedings and with the score reading 2-2 in the final set.
Errani had earlier needed three sets in her first round match too, defeating Ana Bogdan to seal a meeting with Sorribes Tormo. Can she now down a resurgent Stephens?
Stephens v Errani Prediction and Tip
Stephens is a higher-ranked player but more vitally is showing signs of her old self and a win here looks likely. Errani will push her hard but at the most win a set.
